Fire Fatalities (Part 3) “The Team”
A quality investigation cannot be conducted without first establishing an “Investigation Team”. The team may be comprised of firefighters, fire investigators, police officers, detectives, state and federal investigators or other forensic experts to collectively develop a plan of action.
As one who has been fortunate enough to work alongside incredible talent in the fire investigation profession, I also have experienced “conflict” which can be crippling to the investigation and must be avoided.
A fire scene involving a fatality can a complex operation involving a number of jurisdictions. Everyone who is authorized to partake in the investigation should do so in a professional manner, with an “open mind” and be willing to take on any task that is assigned whatever it may be. Having this mentality, the “Team” really becomes a team and works together like a “well oiled machine.”
When selecting a fire expert to represent you or your client's interests, knowledge, experience, and competence are of the utmost importance. With these qualities in mind, we also acknowledge that your particular case is unique and requires thorough review and professional, objective opinions.
